Join us for our first annual Hope Community 5K Fundraiser!
Hope Community, in collaboration with the Mobile Bay Maker’s Market, invites you to join us in the first annual 5K Race/Walk fundraiser to be held in the historic Fairhope South neighborhood on January 4, 2025.
After the race, we invite the community to enjoy food, music, and fellowship while strolling through the booths of local makers and growers of Baldwin County on the grounds of the Anna T. Jeanes School property.
Let’s come together to support our community and have a blast! Your race registration fee helps get us closer to our vision of a healthy teaching farm, kitchen, community center, and gardens in the Fairhope South neighborhood.
Did you know it only takes about 200 square feet of a garden bed to provide a season’s worth of fresh produce for a single person?
Moreover, the monthly cost to mulch, soil, plant, seed, water, and control pests for 200 square feet of a raised bed garden is $150 per month… that’s $5 per day which is less than one latte!
Your registration and support will help create an interconnected community that fosters unity and well-being through meaningful relationships and education. This race will allow people to see our progress in uplifting marginalized communities, and encourage our community to embrace an event established to support healthy lifestyles and outdoor recreation.
All runners will receive a custom-made Hope Community 5k Run t-shirt, and awards will be given for the top overall male and female finishers in the 5K, with additional awards for age divisions.
Become a Sponsor!
Sponsorships are an integral part of planning a 5K – in fact they are essential to fund the event! As a local partner in our community, we hope this opportunity will speak to your heart and that you will join us in preserving and revitalizing the historic Fairhope South area along with the 156-year-old African American community of Twin Beech.
There will be food trucks, water stations, portable facilities, and some of the Eastern Shore’s favorite local artisans from the Mobile Bay Maker’s Market on site. You will also find the best after-race party in town under the giant oaks, headed up by Fairhope South’s very own esteemed deejay, Demetrius Martin.
The Hope Community “Our Roots Run Deep” 5k is a Point-to-Point Run / Competitive Walk, starting out and finishing at the beautiful historic school property of Anna T. Jeanes on the corner of Twin Beech Rd and South Section St.
The route travels east on Twin Beech from the school for .8 of a mile before turning north onto South Ingleside Ave. The race continues on Ingleside Ave. for another .8 of a mile until turning left onto Middle Street. After heading west for .3 of a mile, registrants will turn left onto Young Street, passing by the 101 year old historic Lebanon Chapel AME Church at 401 Young Street. Also at that intersection before heading south, racers will pass by the future home of Hope Community’s additional community gardens and expanded teaching farm. The route then stays south on Young Street for .8 of a mile back until reaching Twin Beech Rd again. Racers will then be directed to turn right and head west on Twin Beech back towards South Section Street to the Anna T. Jeanes property.
