HOPE COMMUNITY INAUGURAL 5K RACE
Hope Community’s first annual 5K will be held in the historic Fairhope South neighborhood on January 4, 2025.
Fairhope, AL – Hope Community, in collaboration with the Mobile Bay Maker’s Market, will host its first annual 5K race in the historic Fairhope South neighborhood on January 4, 2025 beginning at 8 am. The “Our Roots Run Deep” 5K is a point-to-point run, starting out and finishing at the beautiful historic school property of Anna T. Jeanes on the corner of Twin Beech Rd. and South Section St. in Fairhope, AL.
Hope Community is a 501c3 non-profit whose mission is “Nurturing Unity and Relationships through Food, Healing, and Education” in Fairhope and Baldwin County. Proceeds from the “Our Roots Run Deep” 5K will help fund the development, creation and maintenance of a teaching farm, kitchen, gardens, and community center at the Anna T. Jeanes property, as well as at the Middle and Young St. property in Fairhope South. We envision a thriving and interconnected community where all individuals have access to locally sourced healthy foods, employment opportunities, and cultural enrichment.
“After the race, we invite the participants and community to stay and enjoy food, music, and fellowship while strolling through the booths of local makers and growers of Baldwin County,” according to Hope Community Development Chair, Lorie Ward. There will be food trucks, water stations, portable facilities, and some of the Eastern Shore’s favorite local artisans on site. “Everyone will find the best after-race party in town under the giant oak trees, headed up by Fairhope South’s very own esteemed deejay, Demetrius Martin,” according to Clarice Hall-Black, Hope Community Board Director.
Early bird race rates are $25 per person until December 11, 2024, $30 per person from December 12, 2024 to January 3, 2025 and $35 for day of registrations. All registrants who sign up by December 11th will receive a custom race t-shirt. Registrants signed up past that date will receive a shirt as long as supplies last. Registration is open now at Hope Community’s website.
